These
committees support and develop positive relationships
among members through a variety of social and outreach
activities. To build a strong sense of community within
the church, it is vital for member interactions to extend
beyond its walls. Members are encouraged to participate
in one or more of the activities offered throughout
the year.
The Social Ministry Committee's activities embody the
primary mission of the parish: Reaching Out in Christian
Love. The West Allis Relay for Life, sponsored by the
American Cancer Society, has become our signature event.
Trinity Traveler teams have consistently been top fundraisers
for this key cancer-fighting walk/run. Also ongoing
is a steady stream of volunteers assisting Guest House
and the Florist Avenue Lutheran Church Soup
Kitchen, both benefiting area residents. Holy Trinity
has partnered with Florist Avenue not only to provide
much-needed assistance (financial and more) but also
to share ministries, from pulpit exchange to vacation
bible school.
The
committee's wide range of responsibilities also includes
an all-important blood drive for the Red Cross conducted
several times per year. West Central Interfaith involves
a team of volunteers who ably serve area elderly. The
needs of others are also served through a periodic clothing
drive. Finally, our global outreach
is further reflected in our Lutheran World Relief Coffee
Project benefiting small farmers in Latin America.
